Vicky has talked candidly about the altercation with Indian Express earlier. “We are playing for Hindi cinema,” he said, “because when two opening batsmen come to the crease, they are representing the same team, so you won’t say that the two batsmen are clashing with each other.”
Shubhra Gupta, a film critic for Indian Express, rated the movie 2.5 out of 5. A section of the review said, “But the movie suffers from being overly exclamatory, with the background music overpowering the significant events and the towering individuals on screen: Vicky Kaushal is the only one who avoids this and maintains her tall stature throughout the entire movie as Mankeshaw.” Kaushal portrays this role to perfection, even if it’s the most difficult one for him.
